According to Baton Rouge Police, two people were killed in the early Friday morning crash that shut the interstate down for six hours.
The accident was first reported around 2:15 a.m. Friday. I-10 East at the Mississippi River Bridge.
Police say Alex Dillman, 29, of Morganza, LA and Dragus Rochon, 33, of New Iberia, died from injuries sustained in the crash. The investigation revealed that Dillman was driving a Jeep Cherokee westbound in the eastbound lanes when he struck a semi-truck head on in the left lane.
Police say the Jeep continued forward and hit a Dodge Dually driven by Rochon that was pulling an enclosed trailer. A fourth vehicle was also hit and sustained minor damage. The driver of the fourth vehicle was not injured.
The driver of the semi-truck was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. Police say Dillman died at the scene and Rochon was taken to the hospital where he later died.
