Police find body in trunk of car, victim identified

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police are investigating a possible murder after a body was found in the trunk of a car Thursday morning in the 4500 block of Evangeline Street. The car was in the parking lot of Vizion's Barber and Beauty Salon.

The Baton Rouge Police Department received a call about a "suspicious looking" abandoned car just before 10 a.m. Thursday morning.

When officers investigated the scene, they discovered there was a body in the trunk of the white Dodge Challenger. Police say the man had noticeable trauma to his head. Detectives were unable to determine the manner of death.

As of now, they are considering it a suspicious death. An autopsy has been scheduled.

Co-workers have identified the male victim as 27-year-old Clifton Walker. Walker was the owner of Alter Ego Salon in Baton Rouge.

The scene is located in the 70805 zip code, which authorities are focusing on to curb crime in the city.

Detectives have no motives or suspects and anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.

The investigation is ongoing.
