AMELIA, LA (WAFB) - Authorities said a man accused of kidnapping a woman at gunpoint, hitting and robbing her, and then hitting a deputy with his car was arrested Wednesday morning.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said Israel Garza, 25, of Amelia was taken into custody on 10 counts around 7 a.m.

Aggravated assault with a motor vehicle on a peace officer
Aggravated second-degree battery
Reckless operation of a vehicle
Flight from an officer
Simple criminal damage to property (2 counts)
Operating a vehicle without lawful presence in the US
Sheriff Mark Hebert said the woman suffered bruises, black eyes and a cut lip in the attack.
According to reports, a deputy was called out to Waterworks Drive in Amelia. There, the victim told him what happened to her.
SMPSO said Garza pulled a gun on the woman, forced her into a car and then drove to Waterworks Drive.
He learned the suspect then hit the woman, took her cell phone and drove away.
Hebert said the deputy found the suspect's car on Lake Palourde Road, but after making several attempts at trying to talk to the suspect, Garza put the vehicle in gear.
The deputy and the unit were hit. The deputy survived with only a cut finger.
Authorities said Garza fled to his home, where he was arrested.
He was booked into the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.
Bond has not been set.
