BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A police officer accused of issuing phony summons to people has been arrested on additional charges stemming from the investigation.

Cpl. Derek Burns with the Baton Rouge Police Department was re-booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count each of malfeasance in office and forgery.

Investigators said they found another victim, which led to the additional charges.

He was placed on paid administrative leave after his arrest on Sept. 6 on 12 counts of forgery, injuring public records and malfeasance in office.

He is suspected of forging signatures on numerous misdemeanor summons.

Police Chief Dewayne White called the actions "reprehensible."

He bonded out of jail the same day he was arrested.
