BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - An employee of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office was arrested Monday for theft.
Donnie Hookfin, 30, was employed with the sheriff's office for the past seven years, working in security at the parish prison.
Officials with the sheriff's office says Hookfin worked an extra duty security detail for a local organization in September. As part of his assignment, he made a deposit for the organization at a local bank in the overnight deposit drop box.
An employee of CVS had recently made the business' nightly deposit prior to Hookfin, but it had not dropped completely in the box. Hookfin is accused of taking the CVS deposit of $4,321.42 that did not drop completely in the box.
EBRSO detectives were contacted by CVS on October 15, 2012 and began investigating.
Hookfin was terminated and will be booked into parish prison Monday evening on a charge of theft.
