Man found guilty of attempted rape

HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) -

A Hammond man was found guilty Thursday of attempting to rape a 12-year-old.

According to Assistant District Attorney Le'Anne Malnar, there were two girls, ages 12 and 13 in Quroy Johnson's home on June 18, 2008.  The 12-year-old claimed that after another man, Shelton Ray Abron, 21, raped her, Johnson entered the room intending to do the same.

The mothers of the girls contacted police later that day.

During the trial, the defense stated that Johnson acknowledged having sex with the 13-year-old girl, but that he didn't rape the 12-year-old.

Abron is facing aggravated rape charges.  He has pled not guilty.

Johnson faces up to 50 years in prison when sentenced.  He is still facing felony carnal knowledge charges regarding the 13-year-old.
