BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The BRAVE project is getting a new tool in its fight against crime in the form of a high-tech map.
The folks at LSU are helping develop it.
It's a Google Maps or Facebook of sorts to help fight crime.
About half a dozen experts are partnering up with area law enforcement, spending the next several months compiling an enormous amount of crime data and stats.
They'll create a crime map of the Capital City.
Law enforcement will be able to see trends in crime: where troubled areas are, what types of crime and who is committing crime.
That way, officers can better apply their efforts.
Researchers are following the examples of other cities with similar programs, where they saw a 30 percent reduction in crime.
