DNA links man to armed robbery

HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) - DNA collected from a man convicted of kidnapping and attempted armed robbery has linked him to a second armed robbery.

Christopher Brown, 25, had initially been sentenced to 12 years in prison for second degree kidnapping and attempted armed robbery.  A DNA sample collected while in prison matched DNA collected from a bandana in an unsolved robbery from 2006.

In the 2006 robbery, two men held a woman at gunpoint as she tried to make a night deposit at Hancock Bank in Hammond.  The victim told authorities that the men wore bandanas covering their faces.  On of the bandanas was recovered from the scene.

Brown was sentenced to 17 years for the 2006 robbery.
