Detectives continue to follow leads in dismemberment case

Jaren Lockhart Jaren Lockhart
NEW ORLEANS, LA (WAFB) -

Investigators in the murder case of a New Orleans dancer say they are not giving up, despite the fact their two persons of interest may be in the clear.

Jaren Lockhart was killed earlier this year and her dismembered body washed up along the coast of Mississippi.

Margaret Sanchez and Terry Speaks were named "persons of interest" in the case, but were never charged.

"It's definitely been one of the most trying cases I've ever worked on, some of the challenges being the lack of evidence," said Steve Saucier with the Hancock County Sheriff's Office. "It is without a doubt the most heinous case I've ever worked on."

Authorities said the FBI is now helping process evidence and follow through on several promising leads.
