Student found with substantial amount of heroin at school

WINDHAM, CT. (WFSB) -

A student at Windham High School is facing charges after being found with what police are calling a substantial amount of heroin at school.

The 16-year-old was arrested Wednesday after police received information and a lengthy narcotics investigation was launched.

School officials said that the teenager had a substantial amount of heroin packaged for street-level sale along with a large amount of money.

The superintendent said there is not much they can say about the case, however, the student is facing expulsion.

The teen was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics near a school and possession of narcotics with intent to sell and taken to the juvenile detention facility in Hartford.

The incident is still under investigation by Willimantic police.
