BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
A Baker man is finally getting his day in court following an alleged rape and beating of a Baker woman back in September 2011.
Kendrick Jackson who is also known as "Low-Low" is before District Court Judge Bonnie Jackson. He is charged with one count of aggravated rape.
"Obviously in this case you are innocent until proven guilty," says East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore. Moore says however this case has a bit of a different twist. The defendant's girlfriend turned him into police about a month after the alleged assault.
"The allegations are the information regarding this case came from a girlfriend. It (the case) is somewhat unusual so it's the facts we have now," says Moore. "So we're going to go with it."
At the time of the arrest police also arrested the girlfriend. Her charges of harboring a fugitive were eventually dropped. Jury selection is expected to wrap up tomorrow.
