BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
He pedaled for almost 300 miles to raise awareness for people with brain and spinal cord injuries. Scott Wells had a police escort to the State Capitol Friday morning, after leaving Shreveport last Saturday.
Wells was paralyzed 13 years ago when a car hit him.
He is riding to raise funds to have a neurological rehabilitation hospital in Louisiana. He says those with traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries have to travel to Houston or Atlanta to get care.
"I had to relearn how to do everything all over again because my body doesn't work the same as it use to," said Wells.
Wells is the CEO of Independence Regained, the group trying to raise awareness.
He will meet with lawmakers to explain the challenges and discuss what they can do to help this cause.
