BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
A Baton Rouge man says it hasn't rained for days, but puddles of water are sitting in front of his house. His neighbors say the last time it happened, there was a leak under the street. But after calling to have the problem checked out, he says nothing has been done.
Pools of water and mud. Steve Taylor says that is how the street in front of his house, Rosewood Drive, has looked since July.
"The water was piled up. Big puddles over here and on both sides," Taylor said pointing out both sides of the street. "I knew something had to be leaking." He says when the water first came up, he immediately started making calls.
"I called DPW also. They said it was not their responsibility. It's water company responsibility."
Now, months later, he says things still look the same.
Hays Owen, a spokesman for the Baton Rouge Water Company says on July 20th of this year, workers did come out at 8:45 a.m. Owen says they did not find a leak.
"Somebody came out three days after that, they looked around...had a big truck. Looked like they were going to do some digging...looked around for 5 minutes and left. Haven't seen them since," Taylor said as he recalled a crew from the water company looking around earlier this year.
Though he says he has not seen or heard from anyone else, despite calling every month, what he has seen is mud building up on the side of the street and in his driveway. His shoes, his cars, his front yard are also muddied.
"I don't like the way it looks. I don't like tracking mud through my driveway."
Owen says did see several work orders to Taylor's address, but for other reasons. Friday, Owen told us someone else will be sent out to see if there is a problem.
Taylor says he knows there's something wrong. He just wants it fixed.
"It's coming from under the street, I'm positive."
