Jonathan Vilma has filed an appeal to his year long suspension and according to an ESPN report, he has requested that Roger Goodell recuse himself on the basis of bias and partiality.
The ESPN report goes on to say that Vilma is hoping Judge Helen Berrigan makes a favorable ruling in his defamation suit in federal court that would supersede NFL rulings.
Will Smith, Scott Fujita and Anthony Hargrove also filed an appeal today and all four players are eligible to play until Goodell rules on the appeals hearing.
Tuesday the NFL issued new suspensions for the players. The suspensions for Vilma (season long) and Smith (four games) did not change, while the commissioner did change Fujita's punishment from three games to one and Hargrove's from eight games to seven.
