BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
The Baton Rouge Police Department's current class hit the streets Monday, directing traffic on Government St. near the interstate on and off ramps.
It's just one part of the cadets' five-month training that presses them hard physically and mentally.
"As part of the training regiment for the Baton Rouge Training Academy, the trainees must master traffic direction, so that consists of some practical exercises," said Cpl. Tommy Stubbs. "We place them at intersections and they manually direct traffic by hand and they also learn traffic safety."
The academy started back in July and is expected to wrap up by the end of the year.
