Washington, D.C. -
A Huntsville Marine injured in Afghanistan is recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Lance Corporal Kendall Bane, 19, was injured while serving overseas near Camp Hensen. He suffered gunshot wounds to the legs and stomach.
Bane was deployed to Afghanistan in April. He's a graduate of Westminster Christian Academy.
Josh Wetzel, a soldier from Gadsden, is also recovering at the same hospital. He visited Bane in his room.
Wetzel was injured May 31 when a roadside bomb went off during a routine
foot patrol. He was transported from a hospital in Afghanistan to a
hospital in Germany before ending up at Walter Reed for his recovery.
His injuries required both of his legs to be amputated. Wetzel also
suffered from a fractured neck and fingers.
