BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

The Louisiana Secretary of State's office encourages voters to use their new and free Geaux Vote Application for cell phones.

Assistant Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin says the app has really caught on.

"We've gotten a lot of compliments on it," Ardoin said. "Clerk of Court employees across the state are even using to help people find their precincts."

The election is on Tuesday, which is different than most elections in Louisiana. Officials are urging people to get ready.

"You know people have to work, so you get heavy traffic in the morning and then usually around lunchtime and towards the end of the election day," Ardoin said. "What we're really encouraging people to do is take advantage of early voting."

Any voter is eligible to vote early. Early voting is October 23-30th.

This year the Secretary of State's Office has a special place on their website where you can dedicate your vote to a veteran.

"You be able to dedicate your vote to a veteran past or a current service member and you can print out a certificate and you can say if you want a lapel pin or bumper sticker, which says you've honored a vet and voted," Ardoin said.

The deadline to register to vote is Tuesday, October 9th.
