Hollywood actress, Daryl Hannah has been released from the Wood County Jail after she was arrested for protesting the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline, Thursday afternoon.

Hannah, who starred in movies such as Splash, Kill Bill, and Steel Magnolias, and Eleanor Fairchild, were each charged with criminal trespassing and other charges.

Around midnight, Daryl Hannah made her way out of the Wood County Jail. KLTV was there and got an exclusive interview with Ms. Hannah.

"I was peacefully protesting the unwanted advances of Trans Canada on Eleanor Fairchild's land. She has stated very clearly that she doesn't want them there and they insist on bullying her and taking away her land through eminent domain," said Hannah.

"We just sort of stood in front of them and held our hands in a stop motion. I'm holding my wrist because there was this private security guard hired by TransCanada and he injured my wrist," said Hannah.

"The pipeline, if it was regular crude I have no objection to, I object to Tar Sands which they don't even know how to clean up if it spills. I'm concerned about our water supply and I'm concerned about the pipe itself," said Wood County resident, Eleanor Fairchild.

Back in 2010, Fairchild protested the pipeline project. Fairchild has owned her family farm for more than 20 years.

Wood county sheriff's officials told us off camera yesterday that both Hannah and Fairchild started their protest by laying down in front of an excavator.

"No, No, No I would not do that. I did not throw my body in front of this thing. I had no intention of killing myself," said Fairchild.

Hannah has made protesting the construction of the XLl Pipeline a personal project. She says Fairchild's land is just one of the stops she has made along the route of the pipeline.

"I was really interested to meet a lot of the farmers, ranchers and landowners who are fighting this battle. I have traveled to many places along the route of the pipeline I went and did a horseback ride with four chiefs of the Lacoda Rosebud in different Native American nations in North Dakota. " said Hannah.

Hannah says she has spoken to people all along the pipeline. She hopes her arrest will bring awareness to certain issues that surround the pipeline.

"Maybe it will awaken the conversation so that people can really get a full understanding of the dangers are of what the Tar Sands really is because it's a very different thing than a regular pipeline," said Hannah.

We are told that Hannah's publicist will be holding a press conference later this morning.
