WINNSBORO, TX (KLTV) -
Actress Daryl Hannah was released Thursday night from the Wood County Jail in Winnsboro after being arrested for protesting the Keystone XL Pipeline.
Wood County authorities said the Hannah and a landowner ran in front of construction equipment, and were detained by deputies.
The landowner, Eleanor Fairchild, was also charged with criminal trespass and obstructing a passageway. She bonded out of jail late Thursday.
Hannah is charged with criminal trespass for blocking an excavator by blocking its path. She posted a $4,500 bond and was released from jail late Thursday.
Earlier that afternoon, Wood County deputies asked the two to leave, and they refused. They were then arrested, and are currently held in the Wood County Justice Center.
Last August, Hannah was arrested at a pipeline protest outside the White House.
In 2010, Fairchild, the Wood County property owner voiced her concerns on the pipeline that had yet to start work in Texas.
Thursday evening, TransCanada released the following statement:
"It is unfortunate Ms. Hannah and other out of state activists have chosen to break the law by illegally trespassing on private property. It is also unfortunate that she and other professional activists have chosen to engage in illegal acts, putting their own safety and the safety of others at risk, along with trying to prevent thousands of Americans from providing for their families by helping to build the Gulf Coast Project and the energy security it will provide."
