PRAIRIEVILLE, LA (WAFB) - Charges have been filed against a man accused of causing a crash that killed a woman last week on LA-73.
State Police say Ashton Claiborne, 29, tried to pass Carolyn Brouillette in a no-passing zone and hit a cement truck head-on. The cement truck then spun, hitting Brouillette's vehicle.
Brouillette, 56, was taken to the hospital, where she later died.
A toxicology report showed that Claiborne's blood alcohol level was over the legal limit at the time of the crash.
Claiborne has been charged with second offense DWI, vehicular homicide and vehicular negligent injuring.
Claiborne was ticketed for careless operation and driving with a suspended license following a crash in June.
