UNION, SC (WYFF) -

Police have charged two high school students in connection to a sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl that they say happened while her class was being shown a video.

Union police said that the girl was in an auto tech class on Monday when the lights were turned off in the classroom so the video could be shown.

The girl told police that a 16-year-old classmate started rubbing on her leg, and when she told him to stop, he forced her hand onto his penis.

She said 17-year-old Christopher Gene Wyatt then grabbed her other hand and forced her to touch his crotch area. The girl said she continued to try to stop them, but when she pulled her hands away from both teens, they began to fondle her buttocks. Police said another student saw what was happening and also told the teens to stop what they were doing.

The girl said the 16-year-old then covered his lap with his book bag and took his penis out of his pants and forced her hand onto it.

The girl told a school administrator what happened, and police were notified.

The 16-year-old, whose name is not being released because of his age, and Wyatt are charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. Wyatt was being held in the Union County Jail. The juvenile was being held in the juvenile detention facility in Columbia.

Superintendent Dr. Kristi Woodall released the following statement on Thursday:

"On Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, a Union County High School staff member received a report of alleged sexual misconduct between students. The staff member referred the concern immediately to the administrative team. The school's investigation is ongoing; however, charges have been filed by Union Public Safety Department. The teacher of the class where the alleged incident occurred has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation."

Woodall said that the students have been suspended pending the outcome of an expulsion hearing.
