HAMMOND, LA (WAFB) - A man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend is scheduled to be in court for a pre-trial hearing Tuesday.
Giles McGhee, 51, of Independence is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
The Hammond Police Department said he shot and killed Temeka Muse, 27, and Karum Smith, 39, on April 5 while they were sleeping.
They were found dead inside a home on Mallard Drive that morning by Muse's 14-year-old daughter.
Neighbors said McGhee possibly got into the house with a key.
They added they did not hear any gunshots and believe the pair may have been shot during as storms passed through the area overnight.
McGhee was later arrested in Baton Rouge while driving Muse's car.
