Texas man dies in East Feliciana Parish crash

EAST FELICIANA PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

Louisiana State Police troopers continue to investigate a fatal crash that took the life of a Texas man early Monday morning.

The single vehicle crash happened on LA Highway 10, east of LA Highway 961 in East Feliciana Parish.

Troopers say Richard Kennedy Jr., 25, of Austin, TX, was driving a pickup pulling a travel trailer east on LA Highway 10. He traveled off the left side of the road and hit several trees. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Kennedy was pronounced dead by the East Feliciana Parish Coroner.

It is unknown if Kennedy was impaired when the crash occurred; however, routine toxicology samples have been obtained and will submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers remind motorists that Louisiana State Law requires that all occupants be properly restrained.  While wearing a seat belt will not save you in every crash, statistics show it can greatly reduce your risk of injury in most crashes.
