PRAIRIEVILLE, LA (WAFB) -
Charges are
expected soon for the person accused of causing a deadly crash Friday morning.
It happened
on LA 73 (Old Jefferson Hwy) in Prairieville.
The
Louisiana State Police said Carolyn Brouillette, 56, died in the wreck.
According
to troopers, she was headed south in a black SUV when a white SUV driven by
Ashton Claiborne, 29, tried to pass her.
Investigators
said Claiborne slammed head-on into a cement truck when he crossed the center
line.
They reported
the cement truck then spun and hit Brouillette's vehicle.
Neighbors
said they aren't surprised by the accident.
I'll come
down this road and people are constantly speeding," said Danielle Faust.
"I don't get the point of passing and speeding on these roads. There's
tons of cars."
Claiborne
was ticketed for careless operation and driving with a suspended license
following a crash in June.
His previous
record also includes DWI and speeding.
