Investigators believe house fire started on or near bed

BAKER, LA (WAFB) - Fire investigators have not yet figured out what caused a house fire Sunday evening.

It sparked at a home in the 4400 block of Burgess Drive in Baker around 7 p.m.

The Baker Fire Department said the homeowner was across the street at her mother's when the fire started.

Firefighters said the woman's brother, who lives with her, was inside the burning home, but made it out safely.

Fire crews rolled up on the scene to find flames and heavy smoke billowing from a front bedroom.

They said the flames quickly spread into the attic.

Firemen were able to put out the fire before it spread throughout the entire house.

Investigators believe the fire started in the bedroom on or near the bed.

No one was injured in the fire.

The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause.
