Four years ago, Louisiana had one of the highest voting percentages in the country with about two-thirds of state voters heading to the polls. That's something we should be proud of and try to improve this presidential election.

With people across the world fighting for a voice in their government, it's amazing that nearly 40 percent of registered voters in the US didn't cast a ballot last presidential election. What good is the right to vote unless we use it?

If you are not yet registered to vote in this November's election, there is still time. The deadline for registration is 30 days prior to any election.

Election Day is on Nov. 6 and this time, we hope for an even bigger turnout.
