BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Parish School System says there will be make-up days for the school time lost due to Hurricane Isaac.
School officials announced the time will be made up based on the following schedule:
Mon., Dec. 17 - Full Day for Students and Staff (was a half day)
Tues., Dec. 18 - Full Day for Students and Staff (was a half day)
Wed., Dec. 19 - Full Day for Students and Staff (was a half day)
Thurs., Dec. 20 - Full Day for Students and Staff (a make-up day, was a holiday)
Fri., Dec. 21 - Full Day for Students and Staff (a make-up day, was a holiday)
The rest of the winter holiday break will remain as scheduled.
Public schools throughout the parish were closed Aug. 28 through Aug. 31 because of the storm.
"I wanted to get this information to parents and guardians in a timely manner so they can adjust holiday vacation plans accordingly," said Supt. Dr. Bernard Taylor, Jr. "The patience and support of our parents is appreciated as we ensure all our students receive their full instruction time while still maintaining as much of our existing calendar schedule as possible."
Officials said the decision on make-up days was the result of polling parents, the community, school staff and input from top administrative staff.
