BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Louisiana State Police is investigating a crash that left a pedestrian seriously injured Tuesday evening.
Troopers said they have not yet been able to identify the man.
The accident happened at the intersection of Siegen Lane and Rieger Road a little after 8 p.m.
According to LSP, the preliminary investigation shows a man was driving a 2011 Jeep Cherokee on Siegen and the victim was walking in the roadway.
Tpr. Russell Graham said the driver swerved to try to miss the man but hit him anyway.
He said the pedestrian was thrown into the air from the impact and landed in the middle of the intersection.
He added the driver of the Jeep stopped and stayed on scene to answer questions from authorities.
Troopers said he submitted to a breathalyzer test, which didn't pick up any alcohol in his system.
The man was not ticketed.
Authorities said they were not able to get a blood sample from the victim due to the extent of his injuries.
Troopers are continuing efforts to identify him and the investigation is ongoing.
