WALKER, LA (WAFB) - Thanks to the victim of an attempted burglary, two men were arrested this week after being caught trying to steal multiple items.

According to Livingston Parish Sheriff's officials, deputies were called to West Call Road in Walker just before midnight where a Walker man was trying to stop the two men from driving off with his personal property.

The Walker man saw the two males removing items from his closed garage. They had successfully moved his 4-wheeler, generator, tool bag, gas can and power-wheeled tricycle near the roadway.

When the Walker man tried to stop the men, they ran off into the woods. The victim then drove his vehicle in that same direction. When he caught up to the men, they were trying to drive off in a pick-up truck that had a large enclosed trailer attached.

The victim used his vehicle to block them in until deputies arrived.

During the investigation, deputies found a stolen 4-wheeler, ATV tires and rims and stolen Nike tennis shoes. More items were located at the home of one of the suspects. Detectives seized two stolen ATV's and a John Deere riding mower. These items belonged to residents in the Walker area.

Robert Hartman, 27, of Walker was arrested and charged with simple burglary, theft, and illegal possession of stolen things. He is currently being held in the Livingston Parish Detention Center with a bond of $32,500.

Bruce Swaggerty, 30, of Denham Springs was arrested and charged with simple burglary, theft, illegal possession of amphetamines, and possession of xanax. He bonded out of the Livingston Parish Detention Center on September 19, 2012.

The investigation is ongoing.
