PRAIRIEVILLE, LA (WAFB) -

We know more about the kayaker from Prairieville who went missing in Grand Isle. Eryk Richards, 32, went by the name Rusty. He served 10 years in the navy and loved adventure.

Richards went missing while he was on a fishing trip a couple of weekends ago. His body was never found.

"He would always talk about when we get out, I'm going to Louisiana there's really no other place for me... Loved the city, loved the food, loved the laid-back culture ... Only place I've been where the best food is at a gas station," said Eric Adams, Richards' military buddy.

Richards' friends say they miss Rusty's spontaneous nature.

"It's traumatic and everything, but this is the way Rusty lived his life, having fun going out on adventures, pushing the limits and sometimes it doesn't work out for us. That's who he was and that's what he liked to do," said Adams.

The coast guard called off the search for Rusty last Friday. There is still no word on services.
