Man survives kidnapping and shooting

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A man who was kidnapped, shot and left to die in a ditch early Monday morning is in the hospital and expected to survive.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said it was called out after a man was found shot around 1:30 a.m.

Responding officers discovered a 24-year-old man in the 7200 block of Apperson Street, near Glen Oaks Middle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

His name was not released.

The victim was able to give investigators an account of what happened.

He told detectives he was walking on Conrad Drive at Jean Street, which is near the intersection of Winbourne Avenue and North Foster Drive, when he was forced to get into a car.

He said he didn't recognize the car and the information released by authorities did not indicate he knew the suspect.

The victim said he was driven to Apperson and then shot.

He was taken to the hospital. Police said his injuries are not life-threatening.

They have not yet identified a suspect or given any indication about the motive.

The shooting remains under investigation.
