LAPLACE, LA (WAFB) - A LaPlace man now faces an attempted second degree murder charge after an angry outburst over food stamps.
Police say 46-year-old Mark Knight became furious after he was turned down Tuesday night at the LaPlace application site. Officers say he then went to his car and pulled out a loaded AR-15 tactical rifle. Troopers then arrested Knight, initially charging him with aggravated assault and terrorizing.
The charges were upgraded after authorities found dozens of snakes and a suicide note in his trailer, leaving investigators to believe his actions were premeditated.
