GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -
Authorities arrested a 40-year-old woman who is accused of leading deputies on a high speed chase and walking away from investigators while drinking a bottle of tequila.
The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office charged Sandra D. Cook with failure to stop for a blue light, driving under suspension, reckless driving and open container.
On Monday around 11 a.m., a Georgetown County Sheriff's deputy say he attempted a traffic stop on Cook's vehicle which was traveling 88 mph in a 45 mph speed zone on Highway 17 in the Pawleys Island Community of Georgetown County.
According to the sheriff's office, Cook's vehicle failed to stop and led deputies on a pursuit from Pawleys Island south into the city limits of Georgetown and back to the Pawleys Island community.
The sheriff's office say Cook's vehicle finally stopped just north of the Martin Luther King Road and Highway 17 traffic light because Cook was not able to control her vehicle after deputies used stop sticks.
An incident report states that after Cook left her vehicle, she began walking away from deputies while drinking a bottle of Tequila, but was quickly taken into custody.
Cook was locked up at the Georgetown County Detention Center.
