BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Another high level official is saying goodbye to LSU. General Counsel Ray Lamonica, the LSU system's top lawyer, is stepping down.
A statement sent to 9News from Governor Bobby Jindal's office says "We support the decisions the leaders at LSU are making. We appreciated the service of Mr. Lamonica."
Lamonica is the third high-level LSU system official to go in the past two weeks, following the firing of Dr. Fred Cerise and the exit of Dr. Roxanne Townsend, heads of LSU's Hospitals and Healthcare division.
It also follows the firing of President John Lombardi and departure of Chancellor Michael Martin in the past few months.
All of those changes are coming after new appointees by Jindal gained control of the Board of Supervisors and clashed with the Governor over budget cuts.
