I-10 now open in both directions

Posted: Updated:
NEW ORLEANS (AP) -

State Police say Interstate 10 is now open in both directions at LA 22 in Sorrento, but is still restricted to one lane through Laplace.  Troopers are monitoring the highway and keeping the traffic moving slowly through the area.

Water is still on the road and only the inside lanes are open.  Exit ramps at US 61 and LA 641 are still closed,  LA 22 is the last exit available before reaching the elevated portion of I-10 between Laplace and Kenner.

Traffic has been heavy on Airline Hwy through Gonzales and on LA 3125 through Lutcher and Gramercy.  Alternate routes like I-12 to I-55 and LA 70 across the Sunshine Bridge to La 3127 are recommended.

I-10 westbound at I-55 and US 61 at the Ascension / St. James Parish line remain closed because of high water.  Troopers and DOTD officials will continue to monitor the roadways and will open them to traffic as soon as possible.
