LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WAFB) -
The
National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for some places along the
Amite River.
Forecasters
issued the warning at French Settlement and at Maurepas.
They said
the river stage at French Settlement was 6.0 feet Thursday morning. The flood stage
is 4.0 feet. It is believed the river will continue to rise over the next
couple of days.
According
to the NWS, LA Trace Road will be impassable. Highwater Road at LA 16 may be impassable.
Forecasters
said the river stage at Maurepas was 7.4 feet Thursday morning. They reported
at 6.0 feet homes and businesses will be flooded in the Chinquapin area near
Maurpas. They added numerous roads, including LA 22 between Killian and
Maurepas, will be closed.
