Officials issue boil water advisories across the area

Posted: Updated:

POINTE COUPEE PARISH:

As a precautionary measure, West Baton Rouge Parish and Water District #2 are advising residence south of the intracoastal, in the Brusly – Addis area, to continue to boil water until DHH notifies us of the sample results. We have requested DHH to expedite this matter. We are aware that the water pressure is still reduced at this time.

ST. HELENA PARISH:

Waterworks District #2 of St Helena Parish is under a boil water advisory as a precaution due to Hurricane Isaac. This advisory will be lifted as soon as the water quality is assured throughout our system.

TERREBONNE PARISH:

The entire Parish of Terrebonne is under a Boil Water Advisory until further notice due to turbidity issues. Residents should disinfect the water prior to drinking it, cooking with it, brushing teeth or preparing food. To disinfect your water, boil water for one full minute in a clean container. The one-minute boil time begins after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. Any questions in reference to the boil water advisory should contact the Waterworks District #1 at 985-868-1242.

WEST BATON ROUGE PARISH:

Officials of West Baton Rouge Parish are aware of the water pressure issue in the Brusly-Addis area. According to officials, a tree fell and broke a fire hydrant on a main water line. The utility department has fixed that problem, however, it may take three to four hours for the water pressure to return to normal. As a precautionary measure, West Baton Rouge Parish consulted with DHH and decided to issue a water boil advisory for residence south of the intracoastal, in the Brusly – Addis Area, while samples are being approved.
