Jags’ scrimmage called because of lightning

The Southern Jaguars were suppose to have their last scrimmage of the fall but lightning forced Stump Mitchell to pull his team off the field five minutes into the scrimmage. This was going to be the final measuring stick for  the quarterback battle between JP Douglas and Dray Joseph. Now Coach Mitchell will have to review their performances throughout the fall and name a starter for next Saturdays opener at New Mexico. A decision on the starting quarterback is expected to  by Sunday, according to Mitchell earlier in the week. Mitchell said once they make the decision they will have to live with it.

Other  Position battles will continue throughout the week leading into the season opener. Mitchell did say receiver Justin Williams was no longer on the team.  The Jags will return to practice Monday afternoon to prepare. They will head out to Albuquerque, New Mexico  Friday to get ready for  Saturday's game against the New Mexico Lobos.
