According to a deputy with the School Drug Task
Force, an 11th grader from McKinley High School has been taken into custody after authorities found a .22 caliber handgun in his book bag.
The arrest was made around 11 a.m. Tuesday morning. According to reports, administration suspected the student of possible narcotic use. When administration confronted the student, he fled on food.
They found the .22 caliber handgun in his book bag, with one bullet in the chamber.
The 16-year-old student is charged with carrying of a firearm by a student on school property and will be booked into Juvenile Detention.
This investigation is still ongoing.
