A bizarre accident left a man dead Saturday morning. Witnesses say a tree snapped in half and landed on top of a truck traveling down College Dr. near Jefferson Hwy.
The victim was 66-year-old Nathaniel Evans Jr.
Baton Rouge Police Cpl. L'Jean Mckneely says a section of a tree fell on the roof of the 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Evans was driving.
Cooper Harrell lives in the area and said he will be more cautious of big trees.
"We just drove through here probably about 10 minutes before that occurred and headed out. I've been here 43 years and we've had some strange things but this is the weirdest one," Harrell said.
