ST. LANDRY PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

A St. Landry Parish man is behind bars and is facing home invasion charges after being accused of charging into a home and punching a woman in the face and head while her children were there.

According to the sheriff's office, Travis Wayne Lewis forced his way into a home and began punching a woman in her face and head. The victim called the police when he left.

Deputies were able to find Lewis walking on the side of the road close to the victim's home.

St. Landry Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Lieutenant Megan Vizena said "there were children inside the home at the time of the crime. Fortunately none of them were injured."

No bond has been set at this time.
