KENTWOOD, LA (WAFB) -

A Kentwood woman has been arrested for her involvement in the murder of her husband which happened in April of 2008.

Brooklyn "Becc" Huber-Brown, 34, was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with second degree murder.

According to the sheriff's office, new evidence collected revealed her involvement in the murder of Christopher Slater Brown. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office says Brown was shot and killed while sleeping in his bed on April 9, 2008.

Aubrey Williams Sikes is currently serving a life sentence after being charged and convicted with Brown's murder. Sikes was an AWOL Marine at the time of the murder.

At the time of the murder, Brown's wife, Brooklyn, told deputies she and her husband were asleep at their home on South Lewiston Road when she woke up to the sound of a gunshot. "She opened her eyes and saw the barrel of a gun and heard a second shot," said sheriff's department spokeswoman Blair Foster at the time of the murder. The shooting happened just before midnight.

Detectives say the victim's wife identified Sikes as the shooter. She reportedly told detectives Sikes grabbed her by the arm and "stated that she was coming with him," Foster said. "She was able to get away from Sikes and call 911. Sikes ran from the residence."

Mrs. Brown told detectives that she has known Sikes for nearly three years and he is a family friend. Sikes turned himself in about an hour after the shooting and was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on charges of first degree murder and aggravated burglary.

This investigation is on-going therefore no additional information has been released.
