The shockwaves from the dismissal of Tyrann Mathieu has ripped through America's sports scene, but at the epicenter, Tiger fans continue to react to the news.

Tiger fans have seen this before over the years but certainly not when it affects a reigning Heisman Trophy finalist on a team with National Championship aspirations. Tyrann Mathieu now no longer a member of the Tigers and his departure will resonate with LSU fans for quite some time.

As the news of Tyrann Mathieu's dismissal from the LSU football team took hold on the folks enjoying lunch at Walk-Ons, a subdued silence was the common theme.

When we first walked in it was really quiet in here. It was really eerie.

When the press conference wrapped up the emotions set in.

"Disappointed."

"Oh God."

Another highly-anticipated season ready to begin and once again, it will begin under a cloud of gray.

"Last year we had to deal with Shady's incident and now here we are again about to start and another controversy we have to deal with," said LSU senior Matthew Day.

Erin Swenson, a former LSU Golden Girl, echoed the sentiment. "When people are thrust into the spotlight at a very young age, I think maturity sometimes is often hard to do right thing and say no to certain things."

Tyrann Mathieu's abrupt removal from the LSU football team is an obvious blow on the field but some fans are worried about the hit to the university as a whole will take nationally.

"The whole Honey Badger thing just swept the nation and I feel like that was almost the face of LSU football and now we don't want it to be," said LSU Senior Devan Peterson. "We're going to have to make a new face for our self in a positive way."

"I think whatever endeavor you have, you lose people and you move forward and make the best of it regardless of who they are," said former LSU Tennis player Chad Dudley.

LSU was ranked number one in the pre-season Coaches Poll. The Associated Press poll will be released next week.
