BRPD: Attempted robbery turns into deadly shooting

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A 24-year-old man is dead and police are looking for two teens after a robbery attempt ended in gunfire late Monday night.

The Baton Rouge Police Department identified the victim as Travis Holland.

Detectives said they are looking for two young men believed to be in their late teens.

The shooting happened at the Pueblo Apartments on Wyoming Street in Baton Rouge around 10:30 p.m.

The complex is located just blocks from the north end of the LSU campus.

Officers responding to the shooting found Holland. He had been shot one time.

He was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

Investigators said they learned he was shot in the front yard of the complex, stumbled into his apartment and fell on the floor.

Detectives confirmed robbery was the motive in the shooting.

They detained someone for questioning after the shooting but determined the person is not considered a suspect at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
