LSU vs. USC in Preseason Bowl Projections

Posted: Updated:
BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

With the season a month away, CBS Sports has #1 LSU playing #2 USC in Miami for the National Championship.

USC is lead by Heisman candidate quarterback Matt Barkley. The Trojans have two stars at wide receiver, All-American Robert Woods and Marqise Lee. The rushing game is lead by Curtis McNeal and with the addition of former Penn State running back Silas Redd, USC may very well have the most explosive offense in football.

LSU welcomes back 15 starters from last year and a team that will be ready to put behind them the loss to Alabama in the National Championship and look to make their way to Miami for a chance win it all this year.

LSU has a new quarterback under center this year and a new hope that he will be the answer to an offense that was for the most part one dimensional last year. Tiger fans hope Zack Mettenberger will bring a passing game that LSU has not had in recent years. The Tigers will once again have a strong running game with Spencer Ware, Michael Ford, Alfred Blue and Kenny Hilliard all returning this year.

The LSU Tigers vs. the USC Trojans would be a dream matchup for the January 7, 2013 National Championship. It's a long way to Miami, but it's alright to start getting excited!
