The New Orleans Saints had an early morning practice today, but it wasn't the action on the field that got much of the attention. Injuries to Patrick Robinson and Jabari Greer became a big topic for fans.
Interim head coach Joe Vitt wasn't big on giving details on the cornerbacks. As for Robinson, Vitt said, "He's got a shoulder (injury). We're going to evaluate him right now. He's could be out the next couple of days."
Next was Jabari Greer, and the coach answered, "We took him in. He had a little groin pull. We'll evaluate him when he gets inside."
The injuries to Robinson and Greer mean more playing time for Johnny Patrick, free agent acquisition Marquis Johnson and fifth-round draft choice Corey White.
Vitt does feel good about the Saints third and fourth corners, "Listen, I feel good about them right now. We're in practice. This is a great evaluation coming up this weekend against pretty good receivers that we're going to go against. We were in pajamas in the spring time. We've been in pads now for the third day. I think this weekend is going to be a big challenge for him. We're excited for that challenge."
Vitt said the Saints are excited about the Hall of Fame game against the Cardinals Sunday, seeing the display of the Saints world championship and the induction of former Saints star Willie Roaf.
