LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The man accused of shooting and killing his two sons and estranged girlfriend appeared for arraignment Saturday morning.
John Devine, 36, has been released from University Hospital where he has been under close supervision since police found him wounded inside a Pleasure Ridge Park home July 15.
Devine is charged with three counts of murder and one count of burglary.
The victims have been identified as Sadé Goldsmith, 26, and the two sons of the couple, John Devine, Junior, 6, and Jontee Devine, 5.
Metro police were called to the 6100 block of Maravian Drive around 6 a.m. on July 15 after a panic alarm notified 911 dispatchers. Officers found the back door had been broken in and four people inside shot.
Investigators said Goldsmith had been shot in the front part of the home and the children were each shot while sleeping in the bed they shared upstairs. Detectives said John Devine shot himself in the chest.
Police said Devine is eligible for the death penalty.
