(WAFB) - Louisiana has moved up two notches in the annual Annie E. Casey's Kids Count rankings. The list now ranks Louisiana 47th of the 50 states, up from 49th.
The index looks at a broad cross-section of factors that affect kids health and economic well-being. Improvements include a decrease of children living in poverty and an increase in students graduating from high school.
Out of 16 measures, Louisiana has improved in 11. State health officials say the rankings show Louisiana is moving in the right direction, but there's still a lot of work to do.
