AMITE, LA (WAFB) - The Education Superintendent, John White, says more than 10,000 applications for education vouchers have been submitted.
White visited with concerned parents in Amite during his "Louisiana Believes" tour. The program to use taxpayer money to send students to private and parochial schools dominated the conversation.
White says no matter the opinion; it is important when it deals with education in Louisiana.
"Not everyone agrees about every way we're going to get to a college education or a career for every child, but people are committed across our state to getting there," said White.
All voucher program applicants will find out if they're accepted no later than July 31, 2012.
