Report: Brees will not report to camp without long term deal

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WAFB) -

As the deadline nears for a long term contract to be worked out between the New Orleans Saints and Drew Brees, anxiety levels in the Saints Nation continue to rise.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting that Drew Brees will not report to camp on Monday without a new long term contract and that Brees has no intention of signing a franchise tender.

The New Orleans Saints have offered the star quarterback a new contract that would make him the highest paid player ever in the National Football League. The contract offer would pay Brees somewhere near $19.25 million per year, slightly more than new Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning.

Any player designated as a franchise player has until Monday's deadline to reach a long-term agreement. After that deadline, the player can only play by signing his franchise tag.
